The West Virginia Mountaineers will look to avoid a bad loss on Saturday when they host a Kansas State Wildcats team that has been playing much better as of late.

West Virginia (16-6, 9-4 Big 12) checks in at second place in the conference and won five of their last six games including two straight. The Mountaineers are coming off a 74-66 road win over the TCU Horned Frogs on Tuesday. Taz Sherman went for 23 points, and Derek Culver added 18 points and 14 rebounds. West Virginia is ranked 10th in adjusted offensive efficiency this season, and this will be the first of four straight home games to close out the regular season.

Kansas State (7-18, 3-13 Big 12) is ninth in the conference, but the Wildcats find themselves on a two-game winning streak including Tuesday’s 62-57 shocking home win over the No. 7 Oklahoma Sooners. Mike McGuirl led Kansas State to the upset win, knocking down three 3-pointers in consecutive possessions in the final few minutes of the game. He scored 19 points and hit five 3-pointers with seven rebounds. The Wildcats still rank No. 182 in the latest KenPom ratings, but they appear to have turned a corner as they are keeping games close and finding ways to win.
