The Virginia Cavaliers finally lost an ACC game in their last matchup, and look to get back on track against the reeling North Carolina State Wolfpack on Wednesday night in Raleigh.

UVA (11-3, 7-1 ACC) is the slowest team in college basketball at just 59.9 possessions per game. But they also play some of the most efficient offense at 116.5 points per 100 possessions. They start four upperclassmen, including senior forward and leading scorer Sam Hauser at 14.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.

NC State (7-6, 3-5 ACC) has dropped five of six, with the lone win coming against lowly Wake Forest. As a team they make just 34.1% of their three-pointers, and allow opponents to get an offensive rebound 32.3% of the time. That’s a bad combination against the Pack Line defense and spaced offense of the Cavaliers.

Point Spread, Totals, Odds, Trends

Point spread: Virginia -7.5
Point Total: 128.5
Money line: Virginia -375, NC State +280

  • UVA is 8-6 ATS this year, with the Wolfpack just 5-7-1
  • Virginia is 8-6 against the total, with the Wolfpack 8-5

The Best Bet

When UVA plays against talent, they really go into their offensive shell. But against lesser teams their efficiency makes up for what they lose pace. Against a mediocre team, look for plenty of points per possession.

Pick: NC State -7.5
