The Washington Football Team is in need of an upgrade at quarterback and their recent pursuit of Matthew Stafford shows that they will be actively looking on the market. A recent report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal has Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr in their sites.
The Review-Journal report has Washington sending two first-round draft picks to Vegas for Carr, and the Raiders would trade those newly acquired picks along with two first-round picks of their own to Houston to acquire Deshaun Watson.
The possible trade does sound pretty far out there, but beat writer Vincent Bonsignore does site several NFL insiders. How much these insiders are speculating versus passing along information is up for debate. But, the Raiders are a team that would make this kind of trade if it fell to them, while Washington would probably be a good fit for Carr.
The Texans still want to keep Watson and look like they may play hardball, but they likely can’t afford to have him sit out a season if he’s willing to dig his heels in. Reports like these will likely circulate much of this offseason, but Watson does have control over where he would go in a possible trade, so there are many obstacles for an actual move to take place.
