Northwestern started the season on fire and were even ranked in the AP top 25 for a spell. But they’ve totally collapsed losing eight games in a row, and haven’t won since December 29. They’re averaging 66 points per game over their last five, while giving up 78 in that same span. The star of the team is Pete Nance, who averages over 10 points per game and leads the team with nearly seven boards per contest. The offense is sluggish at best and their possessions are far too short.
Purdue has won three of their last five games and has made a bit of a run in the Big Ten standings, sitting just 2.5 games back behind Michigan. Defensively, the Boilermakers allow a mere 66 points per game to their opponent, which is ranked 24th-best in the nation. Offensively they could use a bit of help, only scoring 70 points per game, but are ranked in the top-50 in KenPom’s offensive efficiency metric. Trevion Williams leads the team in both points, 15.5, and rebounds per game, 9.9 per game. Overall they have just two guys in double figures, so the Wildcats will need to try and shut Williams down.

The Best Bet
Purdue is the wrong type of team to get healthy against. Northwestern’s scoring woes should continue on the road. They won’t go winless in 2021, but they won’t get the W here.
Pick: Purdue -335 ML
