The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense had a big game in the NFC Championship. They sacked Aaron Rodger five time and picked him off once to help propel the team into the Super Bowl. They’ll have their hands full against the Kansas City Chiefs, a high powered offense that rarely lets an opposing defense do much damage, especially in fantasy football.
Fantasy Football analysis: Bucs D/ST, $4,200
The Bucs D/ST was worth nine points in DraftKings leagues in the NFC Championship game, and the same amount in the game before that. Overall, they’re averaging 7.4 points per game through the regular season and playoffs.
Kansas City has seen this defense before, back in Week 12. In that game, which the Chiefs won 27-24, they allowed 549 total yards, the most the Bucs allowed in any game they played through the regular season and postseason. They’ll have to do better than that to stop Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
This is a tough matchup under any circumstances. There’s a risk here because the Chiefs can roll up points, and the over/under for this game is lofty 56.5 points. I think the Chiefs defense is a safer bet, but there is the potential for the Bucs D/ST to payoff if they can harass Mahomes the way they did Rodgers.
