What to do with Rob Gronkowski in Super Bowl 55 for DFS and playoff fantasy leagues

We go over the fantasy football and DFS outlook of Rob Gronkowski ahead of the Bucs matchup against the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV.

The Tom Brady-Rob Gronkowski connection looks a lot different with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers than it did back in their days with the New England Patriots. Last week in the Bucs’ NFC Championship win over the Green Bay Packers, Gronk was targeted just once, catching it for a 29-yard gain. While that was helpful for the Bucs, it continued a trend where Gronks fantasy value is hovering around zero in the postseason.

Fantasy Football analysis: Bucs TE Rob Gronkowski, $4,500

That was just Gronk’s second grab of the playoffs. It was just three years ago that he had nine catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots’ Super Bowl loss to the Eagles, but three years is basically a geologic era in the NFL. Now, Gronk is primarily being employed as a blocker for the Tampa Bay offense.

Cameron Brate has taken over primary receiving duties among the Bucs tight ends. He caught three passes on five targets for 19 yards and a touchdown against the Packers.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Gronk’s fantasy value is much lower than in the regular season, but Brate is now considered questionable on the final injury report after picking up a back injury in practice this week. He plans on playing, but the injury does make him riskier and give some hope for Gronkowski to see more work.
