Travis Kelce isn’t just the best tight end in football. He is one of the very few best receivers and among the best players in the league, regardless of position. He has played in 17 games this season and just look at this line: 126 receptions, 1,643 yards, 14 touchdowns. He was an terror in 2020 and only got better as the season aged. There will be plenty of money placed on his name this Sunday, and here are a couple of props you should invest in.
Travis Kelce, Scores a touchdown and player’s team wins (+120)
Death, taxes and Travis Kelce scoring a touchdown. He has reached the end zone in each of his last six games. Coincidentally enough, the last time he was held scoreless was Week 12 at Tampa Bay. However, the Bucs have been pretty generous to tight ends this year, allowing 105 receptions and 10 touchdowns to the position in 19 games. And even though Kelce didn’t score in that earlier meeting (the Bucs were too busy letting Tyreek Hill run right by them that day), he still caught eight passes on 12 targets. Considering that the money line on Kelce to score at any point during the Super Bowl at -175 and Kansas City is a three-point favorite, this line stands out.
Travis Kelce, MVP award winner (+1300)
Among non-quarterbacks, only Tyreek Hill has better odds of taking home MVP honors (+1200). But you can be sure that Tampa Bay won’t let Hill burn them like he did earlier this season. I expect that defense to focus on him at all costs, even if it means leaving Kelce open over the middle. A tight end has never been named Super Bowl MVP, but if he posts a line resembling something like 10-120-2 in a relatively low-scoring affair, Kelce will have to be considered. And let’s be honest: That kind of box score from Kelce wouldn’t be terribly surprising.
