How to handle Sammy Watkins injury heading into Super Bowl 2021

Sammy Watkins is on the Chiefs final injury report for Super Bowl 55. We break down what it means for fantasy football and betting decisions.

Game status: Watkins is ACTIVE for Super Bowl 55.

Game day update: Watkins is listed as questionable, but is expected to play in the Super Bowl, per Adam Schefter.

The Kansas City Chiefs have exactly one player listed as questionable on the official injury report for Super Bowl 55—wide receiver Sammy Watkins. The veteran receiver has been on the shelf since Week 16, missing both of the Chiefs postseason games so far. But he should be back in action for the most important game of the year. Watkins practiced in full on Friday, after getting in two limited sessions on Wednesday and Thursday ahead of the game.

Fantasy/betting impact: Sammy Watkins (calf)

If Watkins is truly back to 100 percent, he could see lots of action as Kansas City’s No. 2 wide receiver. He played in just 10 games during the regular season, accumulating 421 yards and two touchdowns. His best game came in Week 1, when he caught seven passes for 82 yards and a touchdown.

If Watkins is at all limited, Demarcus Robinson and Mecole Hardman would be in line for more looks. It’s a tough situation to read since Watkins hasn’t played in so long, so tread carefully here.
