After losing in the AFC Divisional round to the Buffalo Bills, the Baltimore Ravens need to make some major additions to their wide receiver core to help out Lamar Jackson. Jackson’s top two receiving options were Mark Andrews and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown. Luckily, the Ravens will have some space to make an addition or two. Speaking of Jackson, he could also be re-signed to a contract extension this offseason. Baltimore will also have to make two decisions on pending unrestricted free agents Matt Judon and Yannick Ngakoue.
Lost revenue due to COVID-19 will impact every team, but with so many free agents the likely drop in the league wide salary cap number could make things difficult. The 2020 number was around $198 million, while the 2021 number could drop to $180.5 million according to Over The Cap, but is subject to change.
Salary cap
Estimated 2021 cap space: $24,785,773
Franchise/Transition Tag possibilities:
According to Spotrac, the calculated market value for Judon is $15.6M, while for Ngakoue it is set at $15.5M. Coincidentally, they have both players receiving four-year deals worth $62 million. If the Ravens were to do one of those deals it would only leave them with $9 million in cap space, which less than ideal. Therefore, its possible that we see a franchise tag for Ngakoue because they gave up draft capital for the young defensive end.
