Breaking down the weather forecast for Daytona 500 and Speedweeks races

Update February 11 9:45 p.m. The air dryers are on the track at Daytona, but we’re still likely not starting to race Duel 2 until at least 10:10 p.m. It didn’t help one of the Air Titan machines drying the track spun out coming out of the turn.

As Speedweeks comes back to Daytona International Speedway starting on Tuesday, it looks like the weather is going to be a major factor in how the NASCAR season begins for multiple series.

Stock cars only race in the rain when they’re on road courses, and the infield road course at Daytona will just be used this week for the Busch Clash on Tuesday night. That means we might be in for plenty of delays and rescheduling because of the weather, including for the Daytona 500.
