The Chicago Bulls are set to host the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday in their first game since the All-Star break and will have a significant advantage against the Eastern Conference's top team. Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid have been ruled out because of COVID-19 health and safety protocols, so Zach LaVine and company have a chance to get a much-needed win. Can Chicago’s one All-Star overpower a Philly team that’s missing its two most important pieces? We took a look at the odds on DraftKings Sportsbook ahead of the matchup.
Philadelphia 76ers vs. Chicago Bulls, 8:00 p.m. ET
Pick ATS: Bulls -3.5
Chicago is 0-1 against the Sixers this year and was done in by seven points in mid-February, courtesy of a 50-burger from Embiid. Simmons didn’t play in that matchup, but it’s probably safe to say that having MVP frontrunner and two Defensive Player of the Year candidates out will hurt Philly. The Bulls have no problem scoring, and the absence of a legitimate defensive anchor gives the home team a great shot at covering.
Over/Under pick: O228
Chicago is known for getting into shootouts and has hit this over in six of its last 10 games. The over is very appealing here with Philly missing two defensive anchors. The Bulls have the NBA’s sixth-worst scoring defense and have hit the over in seven of their last nine home games against the 76ers. It’s hard to argue against numbers like those.
