In a spectacular performance, the Big 12 Tournament No. 5 seed Oklahoma State upset the No. 1 seed and AP No. 2 Baylor Bears 83-74 to advance to the conference championship game against Texas tomorrow night.
Cade Cunningham was brilliant for the Pokes (20-7, 11-7 Big 12), leading all scorers with 25 points on 7-16 from the floor, and 4-10 from three-point range. He added eight rebounds and five assists, with 20 of those points in the second half. OSU finished the game on a 13-2 run to ice it away, and shot 20-24 from the free throw line in the second half.
Baylor (22-2, 13-2 Big 12) was held to 29-75 from the field, and just 6-28 from three-point range despite the triumvirate of guards in Jared Butler, Davion Mitchell, and MaCio Teague.
The Kansas Jayhawks were forced to leave the tournament due to COVID-19 testing, therefore no second semifinal will take place. The Texas Longhorns will face Oklahoma State tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
