Longtime Cincinnati Bengals great A.J. Green will sign with the Arizona Cardinals, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Green has seen a decline due to injuries, but when healthy, has still been a useful player. Rapoport reports that his contract will come in around $8 million for one season.
The Cardinals already have superstar DeAndre Hopkins and some good young receivers, including Christian Kirk, who showed well last season. Soon to be Hall-of-Famer Larry Fitzgerald has yet to decide on his future, but the signing of Green could be a sign that Fitzgerald is on his way to retirement.
Whatever happens with the receiving group, the Cardinals offense can accommodate four receivers, and with their fast paced, pass-first attack, they need all the receivers they can handle. Hopkins, Green, Kirk and possibly Fitzgerald, despite some age and injury risk baked in, are a strong group of receivers. Kyler Murray should be happy with what he has to work with in 2021.
