The fans of the NCAA Tournament are having their say as part of Yuengling’s March Mania Battle Contest from DraftKings Sportsbook. And you can join today as well!
We’ve got the early picks in, and you can see how the over 70,000 entries so far have make their picks in the quest for a perfect bracket.
It’s a lot, and we do mean a lot, of favorites. Right now all the better-seeded teams in the first round are going through except one: Georgia Tech is getting 52.27% of the vote as a No. 9 seed over No. 8 Loyola-Chicago. No. 1 Michigan has the highest percentage of votes for a first round win, with 99.5% of entrants taking them over Mount St. Mary’s or Texas Southern.
As for who will cut down the nets overall? Gonzaga is the 2021 national champion in 43.26% of brackets right now, followed by Illinois at 18.14%. It shows how big a favorite the Zags are this year to win it all, and the ease of their bracket draw certainly makes the path a lot less taxing. The other two one seeds are the only other choices with more than 3% consideration, as Michigan has 10.26% with Baylor at 8.12%.
Meanwhile, a big shoutout to the 0.004% of you that each have Drexel, UNC-Greensboro, Morehead State, or the winner of the Appalachian State/Norfolk State game as the next national champions of college basketball. You’ve got ... guts? I guess?
Here are the picks so far if the majority of contestant answers was used to fill out the entire bracket.
