Luka Doncic ruled out Wednesday vs. Thunder [UPDATE]

Add the Mavericks All-Star to the long list of star players dealing with an injury right now ... before the All-Star Break...

UPDATE: March 3, 7:06 p.m. — Doncic has officially been ruled out Wednesday vs. the Thunder. This is a boost for most of the Mavs lineup. If Jalen Brunson is going to start for Doncic, he’d be the one to target in DFS and in the player prop market if available. Kristaps Porzingis also gets a nice boost in a good matchup.

UPDATE: March 3, 1:35 p.m. — Doncic is now being listed as doubtful to play in Wednesday’s game vs. the Thunder after the 1:30 injury report was released. So it appears Doncic likely will be held out before the All-Star break to get additional rest.

Dallas Mavericks All-Star Luka Doncic is being listed as questionable to play in Wednesday’s game vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a back injury. Mavericks C Willie Cauley-Stein is also on the report as questionable to play after leaving Monday’s game due to a thumb sprain. Doncic is expected to participate in the All-Star festivities on Sunday, including the Skills Challenge and All-Star Game. This may just be precautionary with the break approaching. So we wouldn’t be too surprised to see Doncic sit this one out.

If Doncic is held out, the Mavericks will likely start Jalen Brunson at point guard alongside Josh Richardson in the front court. Doncic’s absence also is a nice boost to Kristaps Porzingis, who would be tasked with handling more offense. Tim Hardaway Jr. is another name to monitor for Wednesday’s slate and in the player prop market. You should also look at the opening spread and see if the Thunder are getting points. OKC has been pretty good ATS this season at 18-15-1.
