In a South region matchup, the No. 1 seed Baylor Bears will play the No. 9 seed Wisconsin Badgers in the second round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament Sunday. The ball is tipped at 2:40 p.m. on CBS.

No. 1 Baylor: 23-2 (13-1 Big 12)

First round result: 79-55 win over No. 16 seed Hartford
KenPom rating: 4 Overlal, 3 Offense, 34 Defense
NET ranking: 2, (8-2 VS Quad 1)
Leading scorer: Jared Butler 17.1 ppg
Key stat: 84.4 points per game (4th in the nation)

Baylor jumped out to an early lead in the first half over Hartford Hawks and never looked back, winning 79-55 on Friday. MaCio Teague scored a game-high 22 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field and 4-of-8 shooting from three-point range. He was one of four Baylor players in double figures.

The Bears have now won five out of their last six games. Baylor also shot 41.3% percent from the field, but did an amazing job on defense. They allowed Austin Williams to get his points (19), but held the Hawks 35.2% shooting from the field and 22.7% shooting from three-point range.

No. 9 Wisconsin: 18-12 (10-10 Big Ten)

First round result: 85-62 win over No. 8 North Carolina
KenPom rating: 10 Overall, 26 Offense, 13 Defense
NET ranking: 27 (6-10 VS Quad 1)
Leading scorer: D’Mitrik Trice (13.7 ppg)
Key stat: 8.93 turnovers per game (1st in the nation)

The No. 9 seed Wisconsin Badgers trounced the No. 8 seed North Carolina Tar Heels 85-62 in the first round on Friday night. The Badgers will be advancing to the Round 32 and in the process, they handed UNC head coach Roy Williams his first-ever loss in the opening round in 30 NCAA Tournaments.

The Tar Heels were dominated by the Badgers backcourt of Brad Davison and D’Mitrik Trice on Friday. Davison erupted for a game-high of 29 points (10-15 FG, 5-7 3pt) and grabbed six rebounds. Trice added 21 points (8-15 FG, 3-8 3pt), five rebounds, and three assists.

Wisconsin shot 50.8% from the field and 48.1% from three-point range. Defensively the Badgers made life tough on Garrison Brooks and Caleb Love, who combined for 8-of-25 shooting from the field for 20 points. The Tar Heels were held to 38.5% shooting from the field.

UW is going to need a similar type of performance on Sunday if they want to slow down one of the best offenses in college basketball.

The Pick

Against The Spread Pick: Baylor -6
Point total pick: Over 137
Pick to Win: Baylor

Baylor got a relatively easy test in the first round against the America East’s Hartford. However the intensity will slightly increase on Sunday against one of the better defensive teams in Wisconsin. The Badgers will be looking for their duo of Davison and Trice to try and match the trio of Butler, Teague, and Davion Mitchell. Baylors Big Three only scored 47 combined points in first round on Friday, but we should expect them to heat up and outscore Trice and Davison to advance to the Sweet 16.
