MLB Opening Day for the 2021 season is only a few weeks away. After a shortened 2020 season, all 30 teams are starting with zero wins and the singular goal of winning the World Series. The New York Mets will be one of those teams looking to take a significant leap this season.
The Mets finished last season with a record of 26-34 and third place in the NL East. We will be taking a look at their win total for this season and discussing if they will be going over or under using odds from DraftKings Sportsbook.
New York Mets Under 90.5 wins (+103)
The last time the New York Mets had more than 90.5 wins was back in 2006, when they went 97-65 and lost in the NLCS. Recently, the Mets had 90 wins in the 2015 season, when they went to the World Series and lost to the Kansas City Royals in five games.
After going 26-34 last season and then 86-76 in 2019, the Mets should be much improved with the additions of Francisco Lindor, James McCann, and Carlos Carrasco. If those three players play up-to-par along with Jacob deGrom, Pete Alonso, and Marcus Stroman, then the Mets could threaten for more than 90 wins and be in the driver’s seat to win the division. But with the NL East being so tough and teams beating up on each other, the Mets will fall short.
