As the Detroit Lions look to get younger and start anew, Marvin Jones will head to another team that is looking to start winning quickly after they draft Trevor Lawrence No. 1 overall. Jones has signed with the Jaguars, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
WR Marvin Jones signing: Fantasy football impact
The Jaguars have a young group of receivers that include D.J. Chark and Laviska Shenault. Jones should be able to add a veteran presence to the group and knowing his ability to score touchdowns, he should also have some viability in fantasy.
Much will depend on how quickly Lawrence can get the team moving down the field. If he develops into a top quarterback in the league or even above average in his rookie year, Jones should have touchdown upside.
But in the end, the young receivers will likely take away too many targets from Jones for him to be a consistent fantasy receiver. He will likely be touchdown dependent, which can be extra annoying in fantasy.
