Free agent wide receiver T.Y. Hilton will return to the Indianapolis Colts on a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. .
Hilton has spent all of his nine-year career with the Indianapolis Colts. Before the 2020 season, he attempted to get a contract extension to stay a Colt for the remainder of his career, but nothing got done. He’s a four-time Pro Bowler and led the NFL in receiving yards back in 2016. Last season he led the team in receiving yards, but it was the second-worst year of his career, with just under 800 total yards and five scores in 15 games. His previous season, in 2019, he totaled only 501 yards in 10 games.
He still has some juice left in the box, but the noodle arm of Philip Rivers did not help last year. No matter your assessment of Carson Wentz, he should be able to extend the offense downfield a bit more than Rivers. But this is a blow to the upside of Michael Pittman, who could have taken over as the No. 1 receiver in INdianapolis if Hilton had moved on.
