Mike Boone is joining a new team ahead of the 2021 season. The former Minnesota Vikings running back is signing a two-year deal with the Denver Broncos following the release of Phillip Lindsay. The 25-year-old was trapped behind Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison at his last stop. Now he’ll get a chance to be a more significant contributor. Let’s go over his potential fantasy impact.
RB Mike Boone signing: Fantasy football impact
The Broncos will use Melvin Gordon as their feature back in 2021, but Boone could be a vital part of their one-two punch out of the backfield. Lindsay averaged more than 10 carries per game in his 11 appearances for Denver last season, so there’s room for Boone to build upon his career highs. Boone rushed for 59 yards and a score on 11 carries last season and 273 yards on 49 carries the year before that. His limited volume makes it hard to evaluate his floor or ceiling, but he’s shown good upside when given a chance and almost certainly is in for his most productive season yet.
