UCLA didn’t enter March Madness with high expectations but pulled off its best win of the year in the Sweet 16 by topping Alabama by double digits. The Bruins’ guard-centric was at a major size disadvantage against the Crimson Tide but went toe to toe with the bigger team on the boards. The underdog only lost the rebounding battle by four, and all it’s players came ready to play on offense. Six Bruins reached double-digits in points, but Jules Bernard and Jaime Jacquez Jr. led the way with 17 points apiece. Alabama’s leading scorer, Jaden Shackelford, scored just four points and was outshined by Jahvon Quinerly, Quinerly poured in a game-high 20 points off the pine.
