UPDATE: Kyle Larson will have to drop to the rear of the race because of an engine change, per FOX Sports.
The NASCAR Cup Series is hitting the dirt for the first time in over 50 years. The 2021 Food City Dirt Race is taking place at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sunday, March 28, and it makes the first Cup Series race on dirt since 1970. The move from concrete to dirt will reduce the banking from 28 to 19 degrees.
Kyle Larson has claimed the pole position for this race and will be joined by Denny Hamlin on the front row. Larson is a sizable favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook because of his experience in dirt track racing. He’s made extensive appearances in the World of Outlaws Late Model Series — where he owns a team — and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. He’s installed at +300, with Christopher Bell — another experience dirt racer — next at +800. Chase Briscoe follows at +1200.
Here is the full lineup for Sunday’s 2021 Food City Dirt Race. This is subject to change if cars or engines need to be changed before the green flag drops.
