Update 9:57 p.m. It was all for naught however, as an ice cold shooting streak to open overtime continued to plague Alabama, and the No. 11 seed UCLA Bruins advance to the Elite Eight 88-78 and will face the No. 1 Michigan Wolverines.
The Alabama Crimson Tide’s Alex Reese hit a three with 0.4 seconds left to tie the Sweet 16 game with the UCLA Bruins at 65 heading into overtime. It’s technically not a buzzer beater, but it might as well be!
It was the only points in the game for Reese to that point. And now all the momentum is with the No. 2 seed Crimson Tide as they head to bonus basketball. For UCLA, it’s another heartbreaker when all they had to defend the shooter... the same thing they did against Tahj Eddy and rival USC earlier this season.
We head to overtime in Indianapolis, and leading scorer Johnny Juzang has fouled out for UCLA. The lead guard for the Bruins had just 11 points on 5-18 shooting, but Bama is just 6-24 from three-point range today, and are an unconscionable 11-25 from the free throw line. Even with this miracle, they still might be going home if that doesn’t improve.
