Los Angeles Lakers All-Star F LeBron James will not play in Wednesday’s game vs. the Sacramento Kings. This is the final game for the Lakers before the All-Star break begins on Friday and the team has opted to get James additional rest before the weekend. James was named to his 17th straight All-Star Game and will captain the Western Conference. L.A. is on the second night of a back-to-back set after losing to the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night at home.
The Lakers seemed to have thrown in the towel on the first half early. Marc Gasol and Kyle Kuzma were late additions to the injury report for Tuesday night before the loss. Anthony Davis (calf) has been sidelined for over a month due to a muscle strain. The good news is the Lakers have an easy schedule in the second half and AD will likely come back fresh. Don’t be surprised if the Lakers rest more players Wednesday night vs. Sacramento.
As for fantasy basketball, well, we need to wait and see for the Lakers. Initially, if Kuzma is going to return to the lineup, he would be the guy to target with LeBron out. Dennis Schroder is the other big name that would need to elevate things on offense. Talen Horton-Tucker could end up being the chalk play of the night if he ends up in the starting lineup. We saw him put up some stupid numbers in a few preseason games.
