Pick against the spread, best player prop for Clippers vs. Wizards on Thursday

We go over some of the best betting options for Thursday’s matchup between the LA Clippers and Washington Wizards.

NBA: Washington Wizards at Boston Celtics Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Wizards will look to close out strong prior to the All-Star Break as they get together in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, February 4th.

The Clippers lost three of their last four games including each of their last two, most recently a 117-112 road loss to the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night. Kawhi Leonard did not play in the game due to an ankle injury. He is questionable for Thursday’s game, while Marcus Morris Sr. is doubtful to play after sustaining a concussion. Los Angeles will enter in third place in the Western Conference with a 24-13 record.

Washington will enter with a record of 13-20, which ranks No. 12 in the Eastern Conference. The Wizards went on an impressive run where they won seven of eight games, but they’re looking to avoid their third straight loss. Washington was defeated 125-111 at home Tuesday night against the Memphis Grizzlies despite 23 points from Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal.

Update: Kawhi Leonard (back) will play and Marcus Morris (concussion) has been ruled out.

Clippers vs. Wizards, 7:00 p.m. ET, NBA League Pass

Pick ATS: Wizards +5

Washington has been covering spread consistently over the last 10 games where they are 8-2 against the number. The Wizards could benefit from a banged up Clippers roster that could be without two key players with Leonard and Morris. In addition, Los Angeles has been playing worse than the oddsmakers expect, covering in just two of their last six games coming in, and this will be their fifth consecutive road game. Let’s go with the home underdogs to head into the All-Star break with a cover.

Player Prop: Russell Westbrook U23.5 (-114)

Russell Westbrook went for 23 and 24 points in his last two games, both of which were losses, and he’s averaging 20 points per game this season. In addition, he scored less than 20 points eight times in February. Teammate Bradley Beal is leading the league in scoring at 32.9 points per game but scored just 23 on Tuesday night, so he is likely to be more involved in this spot. If Leonard is set to return, the Clippers are likely to play better defense, but even if he sits this one out, it’s unlikely Westbrook reaches this number.
