The WCC Basketball Tournament is nearly over. No. 1 Gonzaga has dominated the conference for the better part of the last decade and blew out Saint Mary’s to secure a spot in the title game. The top team in the country is set to face off against BYU on Tuesday. The Bulldogs swept the Cougars during the regular season, and the favorite is likely to make the season series 3-0.
Gonzaga (25-0, 15-0) has won eight of the last 10 WCC titles. It’s already beat BYU by double-digits twice this season, and the Bulldogs’ dynamic offense has hit very few roadblocks this year. Corey Kispert, Drew Timme, and Jalen Suggs can all fill it up on any given night. The Cougars will be hard-pressed to keep up with the highest-scoring team in the country.
BYU (20-5, 10-3 WCC) has won five straight games since its last loss to the Bulldogs, and Pepperdine is the only other stream that’s topped the second-best team in the WCC. Do-it-all guard Alex Barcello will be key to unlocking the Cougars’ potential against the juggernaut that is Gonzaga, but even an all-time performance might not be enough to get the underdog a win.
