The final game of opening day at the 2021 ACC Tournament certainly ended the best way a March college basketball session can: With a walk-off buzzer beater for the win. That’s what the No. 11 seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish did to top the No. 14 Wake Forest Demon Deacons at the Greensboro Coliseum on Tuesday night.
Tie game, five seconds left... ND’s Cormac Ryan makes the block on one end, dribbles up court, hits Trey Wertz as the trailer...

Drive home safely. Gorgeous.
Ryan certainly found the right guy, as Wertz was 5-6 from the field and 4-5 from three-point range during the game. It’s probably why he started celebrating when the ball was still in the air.
Yeah, go back and watch the replay again. He really did that.
The Irish advance to face the North Carolina Tar Heels tomorrow night at 9 p.m. They’ll be a big underdog. But no matter what, they’ll go home with a great memory from the tournament.
