MLB World Series betting splits before Opening Day

We take a look at how the public is betting on the World Series champions heading into the 2021 MLB season.

Let’s start looking toward October in March as the 2021 World Series splits are out on DraftKings Sportsbook. Although a couple of teams have separated themselves from the pack, there are quite a few other title contenders worth investing in if you’re looking for a bigger payoff.

The Dodgers (+350) and the Yankees (+550) are the clear favorites in the National League and the American League, respectively. They have also taken in the largest percentages of the bets at 21% and 14% However, the White Sox command 18% of the handle, more than any other team. Bettors are understandably excited about Chicago, which boasts one of the better lineups in baseball and fortified their pitching staff this offseason by acquiring starter Lance Lynn and closer Liam Hendriks.

My favorite bet here is the Atlanta Braves at +1000. This is basically the same team that took the Dodgers to seven games in the NLCS last season. They had the highest OPS last year and have added veterans Charlie Morton and Drew Smyly to a young, high-upside starting rotation. There’s quite a lot of profit to be made here on a team that should be considered one of the five best in MLB.
