The Atlanta Hawks (23-24) will host the San Antonio Spurs (24-21) and hope to snap their two-game losing skid as they stay in the hunt for the playoffs. They’re 6-4 in their last ten games and will look to get back to some winning ways after a run of rough games against Western Conference opponents. They’ll most likely have to do it without De’Andre Hunter (knee) who’s listed as questionable, and John Collins who suffered an ankle injury in Tuesday’s contest against the Suns.
Hawks vs. Spurs, 8:30 p.m. ET, NBA League Pass
Pick ATS: Spurs +1
This is set to be an extremely close game no doubt, but it seems like the Spurs may have the edge here especially given the injury woes in Atlanta. Losing John Collins is no small thing — Collins just came off a 38-point performance against the Warriors last week, and only played 15 minutes against the Suns before he was taken out for his ankle injury. Trae Young will be left to pick up any slack left by absences, and there’s a chance the young point guard could go huge and take care of business. The Spurs are just coming off a big 120-106 win over the Kings yesterday where DeMar DeRozan went for 26 points, seven assists, and five rebounds. Taking that momentum and bringing it to Atlanta could certainly result in covering the tight spread on this one.
Player Prop: DeMar DeRozan O20.5 points (-113)
DeRozan went for 23 points the last time these two teams met back in February, and he’s coming off that 26-point performance against the Kings last night. His season average is 20.6, and while he just recently had a pair of under-20-point games, going up against a short-handed Hawks team with momentum on San Antonio’s side, the Spurs’ top scorer this season shouldn’t have much trouble hitting 21+ points in Atlanta.
