The NBA is heading into it’s final month of the season and teams are starting to rest players more than usual. The injury reports are piling up and this Sunday is no different. The Los Angeles Clippers have already ruled out Kawhi Leonard for rest and a few other All-Star caliber players are on the mend.
We’ve got 10 games on the schedule for Sunday, April 11, and there are plenty of big names on the injury report. Here we’ll be monitoring all the latest injury news with some analysis and how to approach the injury for DFS and fantasy basketball.
NBA Injury Report: Sunday, April 11
Chuma Okeke, PF/C, Orlando Magic
Update: Gary Harris is being inserted into the starting lineup for Okeke. WCJ will play center and James Ennis will shift to PF. So the Magic are going with a very small lineup tonight.
The Magic have ruled Okeke out for Sunday’s game vs. the Bucks. With the Magic down their starting big, Wendell Carter Jr. ($5,700) and Mo Bamba ($4,500) should get the bulk of the front court minutes. The Bucks are likely to be without Antetokounmpo, so that makes this a much easier matchup down low. WCJ is a good mid-range cash-game option. He’s struggled the past two games, but had posted at least 40 DKFP in three straight after settling in with Orlando.
Toronto Raptors injury report
Update: Lowry will be available to play today.
Update: Lowry is now being listed as probable to play. This means the Raptors could send Flynn back to the bench. He’s a less appealing play overall. Trent gets a slight downgrade with both Siakam and Lowry in there, but should still get plenty of looks coming off his monster 44-point game.
Raptors SF/PF OG Anunoby (rest) and PG/SG Fred VanVleet (hip) are both out for Sunday’s game vs. the New York Knicks. Kyle Lowry is questionable with a foot injury and Pascal Siakam (rest) is expected to return. Malachi Flynn ($5,400), Gary Trent Jr. ($5,800) and Chris Boucher ($6,800) will all be solid plays if the Raps are without Lowry as well.
Darius Garland, PG/SG, Cleveland Cavaliers
Update: Garland is being listed as out for Sunday’s game vs. the Pelicans. Sexton (groin) is also a surprise addition to the injury report, go figure. So no starting back court for the Cavaliers. Matthew Dellavedova ($3,400) is the lone PG left for the Cavs and should end up starting. Cedi Osman ($3,600), Isaac Okoro ($3,900), Quinn Cook ($3,200) and Lamar Stevens ($3,100) are all candidates for more playing time as well. One would think this game won’t be competitive at all, so any players who will get garbage minutes are worth considering in tournaments.
Garland (ankle) is considered a game-time decision for today’s game vs. the New Orleans Pelicans. With Jarrett Allen and Larry Nance both sidelined, the Cavaliers will likely have to lean on Collin Sexton heavily if Garland is out. At $7,500, Sexton is a solid mid-range GPP play on DraftKings for the main slate if Garland is out. It also may be difficult with the Cavs down so many heads, so he also is a fade candidate, particularly in cash. Isaiah Hartenstein ($5,200) and Taurean Prince ($5,100) may be safer options if the game is a blowout.
Trae Young, PG, Atlanta Hawks
Update: Young and Gallo have been ruled out for Sunday’s game vs. the Hornets.
The Hawks are listing Young as questionable to play in Sunday’s game vs. the Charlotte Hornets due to calf contusion. The Hawks are also without Tony Snell (ankle) and could be without Danilo Gallinari (knee), who is also questionable. If Young is ruled out, Lou Williams ($5,000) and Brandon Goodwin ($3,000) will likely play most of the minutes at PG. If Gallo is out, Bogdan Bogdanovic ($6,500) and Kevin Huerter ($5,200) are in the same boat. Solomon Hill ($3,700) would be the other value to look at.
Jayson Tatum, SF/PF, Boston Celtics
Update: Tatum and Brown are both available to play vs. the Nuggets.
The Celtics are listing Tatum (illness) and SG Jaylen Brown (knee) as questionable to play today vs. the Denver Nuggets. If both players are ruled out this afternoon, then three players will see the bulk of the usage and minutes: Kemba Walker ($6,600), Marcus Smart ($6,100) and Robert Williams ($6,000). Payton Pritchard ($3,200) isn’t a bad value option if Brown is sidelined. The Celtics don’t have much depth in the back court with Evan Fournier in health and safety protocols.
Jamal Murray, SG, Denver Nuggets
Update: Murray has been ruled out vs. the Celtics.
The Nuggets are listing Murray (knee) as questionable again for today’s game vs. the Celtics. Murray has missed the past three games with the injury. Will Barton ($5,300) and Monte Morris ($4,000) would make for solid value options if Murray is held out again. Facundo Campazzo ($3,500) would end up starting again for Murray, though he may not get as much run as Morris at guard.
Kawhi Leonard, SF, Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers have already ruled Leonard (rest) out for Sunday’s game vs. the Detroit Pistons. PG Rajon Rondo (groin) is being listed as questionable while Paul George (rest) could end up returning to the lineup after sitting Friday. With Kawhi out and PG-13 back, he’ll be a solid GPP play at $8,400. Reggie Jackson ($5,100) will be a solid value play if Rondo sits, plus Patrick Beverley (hand) is on the sidelines.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, PF/C, Milwaukee Bucks
Update: Giannis has been ruled out and the rest of the starting lineup will return. Middleton, Holiday, DiVincenzo and Lopez should all start against the Magic.
The Bucks are listing Giannis (knee) as doubtful to return to the lineup Sunday vs. the Orlando Magic. The Bucks rested pretty much everyone on Friday and most of the regulars are off the report and expected to return, including Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton, Donte DiVincenzo and Brook Lopez.
