The Miami Heat (28-26) will visit Ball Arena to take on the Denver Nuggets (34-20) in hopes of staying in the top six in the Eastern Conference. They’re only a half a game ahead of the seventh-place Hornets, but also half a game behind the Celtics as well, so a win over the Nuggets could do Miami a lot of good. The Heat may be in luck, as the Nuggets are reeling from Jamal Murray’s ACL injury while still trying to find a way to stay in playoff contention. They’ve gone 8-2 in their last 10 games, but have lost their last two in a row and will be without Murray for the remainder of the season.
Heat vs. Nuggets, 10:00 p.m. ET, NBA League Pass
Pick ATS: Nuggets -5
Denver isn’t automatically down and out without Murray — they recently missed him for four games straight as he was sidelined with a knee injury and they won three of those contests. They still have guys who can do some damage in Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon, and Michael Porter Jr. Jokic just recorded back-to-back triple-doubles and was two assists away from his third straight, going for 27 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists against the Warriors earlier this week.
Denver has been fairly good at home, going 18-10 on the season while the Heat are an even 13-13 on the road. Even with Murray out, the Nuggets can still find a way to be a problem for other teams as they proved in that four-game stretch before Murray’s ACL injury. If Jokic has another big night at home, they should be able to take care of business in this one. The Heat are also dealing with players being out. Goran Dragic will rest while Jimmy Butler is questionable to play.
Player Prop: Nikola Jokic O10.5 rebounds (-106)
With the way he’s been playing recently, 6’11” center Nikola Jokic could grab at least 11 rebounds in his sleep. He’s collected 10-plus in his last three games, and averaged 11.4 rebounds per game throughout the entire month of March. Denver has a solid defense and that’s where he grabs most of his boards, so he should be able to keep on the same trajectory against the Heat.
