Ohio State quarterback and 2021 NFL draft prospect Justin Fields is set to workout at the school’s second pro day on Wednesday. The workout will be closed to media personnel, but all teams are able to attend, sending up to three representatives each. We’ll update with any details as they arrive from what appears to be a closed event.
There will be plenty of teams in attendance for his second pro day, including the San Francisco 49ers who recently traded up to the No. 3 Overall pick in this year’s draft and caused a stir by attending Zach Wilson’s pro day over that of Justin Fields’. The organization hasn’t tipped their hand, however, as there’s still a firestorm of rumors and speculation. Credible sources like NFL Draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah have postulated that the pick is Alabama quarterback Mac Jones, but the general public has voiced plenty of skepticism that the team would mortgage their future for the kind of pocket passer Jones was in college.
Other teams in need of a quarterback are also expected to attend, including the New York Jets, who hold the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, are also expected to attend. The Jets have been speculated to plan to draft BYU’s Zach Wilson with that pick, but they can cross this off their list as doing their due diligence. The New England Patriots and Denver Broncos will also be there for the workout, though it’s likely that with their current draft positions, either of these teams would need to trade up to have the opportunity to draft Fields as their potential quarterback of the future.
