UPDATE: Since Justin Fields’ pro day April 14th, his odds to land in San Francisco have increased. He is now -121 compared to +150 before his pro day.

Who will draft Ohio State Buckeye Justin Fields in the 2021 NFL Draft? This is a question that has been asked and answered in multiple ways over the last few months and the debate will only heat up as we come down the final stretch. But, instead of pontificating on where Justin Fields should go, we’ll take a look at where the public is betting Fields to land over at DraftKings Sportsbook.

The odds on favorite to land Fields are the San Francisco 49ers. 49ers fans seem to be in agreement that Fields should be the guy, while media reports have Alabama’s Mac Jones landing in Kyle Shanahan’s system. The public appears to like Fields to the 49ers the best, as 54 percent of the handle and 24 percent of the bets, but, when betting on where Jones will land, he is getting 57 percent of the handle to Fields 32 percent, but Fields has the edge in number of bets with 45 percent to Jones’ 28 percent. It appears the big money is still on Jones while the public is feeling Fields.

So, if the 49ers do skip on Fields, where will he end up? The Atlanta Falcons are next up in the odds at +300, but betters appear to be leaning toward Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots to find a way to draft him. The Falcons currently have the number four pick while the Patriots have No. 15. Rumors have the Falcons willing to trade down, but if Fields is still there, will that change their mind?

The Patriots would likely need to give up the future farm to move up in a trade with the Falcons, who hold all the cards. But, the way they went after free agency, that’s not out of the question.

Aside from the Falcons and Patriots, betters next best guess appears to be the Panthers, as acquiring Sam Darnold hasn’t dissuaded everyone from believing Carolina will still go after a quarterback.

Where Fields goes is going to be interesting to say the least and betters really don’t have a firm handle on where that might be.
