Despite a strong performance from Kyrie Irving on Wednesday, the Brooklyn Nets relinquished control of the top seed in the Eastern Conference with a 123-117 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Tonight, the Nets will strive to get back on top of things when welcoming a struggling Charlotte Hornets ball club to the Barclays Center.
The Nets (37-18) will have both Irving and Durant on the floor for tonight but will be missing James Harden, who is still sidelined with a hamstring injury. It’s been a rare sight to see the trio on the court at same time with them in-and-out of the lineup throughout the regular season.
The injury bug is starting to take its toll on the current play-in tournament bound Hornets (27-27), who have dropped three straight and six of their last 10. On top of Rookie of the Year candidate LaMelo Ball being out with a wrist injury, Gordon Hayward has been sidelined with a sprained foot, Malik Monk has missed time with a sprained right ankle, and P.J. Washington is listed as doubtful for tonight, also dealing with a right ankle sprain. Terry Rozier returned to the lineup on Wednesday after sitting out of the Lakers game with knee tendinitis.
Hornets vs. Nets, 7:30 p.m. ET, NBA League Pass
Pick ATS: Brooklyn -12.5 (-112)
The two teams recently met a few weeks ago on April 1, a 111-89 Nets beatdown of the Hornets. Given the helplessness of the Charlotte’s injury situation and Brooklyn having both Irving, Durant, and Deandre Jordan on the floor, expect the home team to cover easily and bounce back from Wednesday’s loss.
Player Prop: Terry Rozier U32.5 Points, Rebounds and Assists (-113)
Scary Terry has a huge weight to carry for the Hornets with so many key injuries and he delivered a 22 point, eight assist, seven rebound performance in a loss to the Cavs on Wednesday. However, that was on the higher end of his production as of late so don’t expect him to duplicate that against the second best team in the Eastern Conference tonight.
