Update: Friday night’s game between the White Sox and Red Sox has been postponed due to snow at Fenway Park. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Sunday.
Sporting the top record in the American League, the red-hot Boston Red Sox are set to return to their home confines of Fenway Park tonight when kickstarting a four-game series against the up-and-down Chicago White Sox.
Boston (9-4) had their nine-game winning streak snapped on Thursday when a Max Kepler walkoff RBI single lifted the Minnesota Twins to a 4-3 victory over the Red Sox. Chicago (6-7) also came out on the losing side of things on Thursday, falling flat following Carlos Rodon’s no-hitter with a 4-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians.
Nick Pivetta (2-0) will take the mound as the Red Sox starter tonight and will go head-to-head with Chicago’s Dylan Cease, who was cleared after being placed on the injured list earlier in the week due to COVID-19 precautions.
Red Sox vs. White Sox, 7:10 p.m. ET
Moneyline pick: BOS -112
It’s been high risk/high reward for Pivetta on the bump this season as he sports a 1.455 WHIP through two starts but also has 11 strikeouts in 11 innings of action. Cease, however, has given up four runs in 9.1 innings this season. He’s also being thrown on the mound after the uncertainty of his status all week, so expect Boston batters to get after him early.
Player Prop: TBD
