The Arizona Nationals and Washington Nationals will continue their four-game series on Saturday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. ET. On Friday night, the Nationals defeated the D-Backs 1-0 as outfielder Kyle Schwarber hit a walk-off solo home run in the ninth inning. Taylor Widener and Max Scherzer gave both of their teams good outings. Widener struck out three in 6.0 IP, while Scherzer racked up 10 strikeouts in 7.0 IP.
In one of the first games on Saturday, Arizona will put Luke Weaver on the mound, while the Nationals will run out Erick Fedde. We’ll go over some ideal picks on DraftKings Sportsbook centered around the game here.
Diamondbacks vs. Nationals, 1:05 p.m. ET
Moneyline pick: D-Backs -113
This has been a weird series between these two teams. On Thursday, we saw the D-Backs’ offense jump on Nats’ starter Patrick Corbin early and cruise 11-6 win. Then Friday night, we got an ole-fashioned pitchers’ duel between Widener and Scherzer.
With that in mind, Saturday’s game will likely follow the lines of what happened on Thursday night. D-Backs SP Luke Weaver has a record of 1-0 and an ERA of 2.13. The 27-year-old pitcher will be making his third start of the season after a dominating outing against the Cincinnati Reds on April 11. Weaver allowed one hit, a walk, and struck out eight in 7.0 IP in a 7-0 shutout win. Meanwhile, Fedde has struggled in his two starts of the season, with a record of 0-1 and 8.53 ERA. After a rough debut against the Braves, where he only went 1.2 IP, Fredde threw 4.2 IP against the St. Louis Cardinals and only allowed two hits, one earned run, and struck out five.
Player Prop: Luke Weaver O5.5 strikeouts (+124)
If the D-Backs want to steal the third game of this series, they are going to need a solid outing from Weaver. The 27-year-old pitcher has 11 strikeouts in 12.1 IP through two starts this season. In his last outing, he has eight strikeouts against the Reds’ lineup last week, which is not easy.
In his only career start against the Nationals, Weaver has a 4.91 ERA with seven hits, four runs, and a strikeout in 3.2 IP. But he has seven combined strikeouts against Josh Bell, Jody Mercer, and Kyle Schwarber in his career.
