Best MLB team stacks for DFS on Thursday, April 22nd

We go over some of the best MLB teams to stack for DFS on DraftKings for Thursday’s main slate.

Alex Verdugo is a good option in the outfield

We have a light eight-game schedule in MLB on Thursday, which means there are still multiple opportunities to come away with a win in DraftKings baseball DFS. The main slate has five games starting at 7:10 p.m. ET. There are also two early games beginning at 12:35 p.m. ET between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Cincinnati Reds.

Sometimes with a plus-matchup on the MLB game slate, we get an opportunity to slot multiple players from the same team into our DFS lineups. You can learn more about MLB DFS strategy, including team stacks, here.

Here, we’ll break down three of the best team stacks for the MLB slate on April 22nd.

Mariners vs. Red Sox, 7:10 p.m. ET

J.D. Martinez ($6000)
Rafael Devers ($5800)
Xander Bogaerts ($5700)
Alex Verdugo ($4400)
Bobby Dalbec ($3800)

In one of the first games to kick off the main slate Thursday, we have the Seattle Mariners taking on the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. On the mound for Seattle will be Justin Dunn, who will be opposed by Nick Pivetta for Boston. For this game, we’ll be looking at a stack for the Red Sox, who have one of the better offenses in the majors.

This season, the Red Sox are hitting .288 with 23 home runs and averaging 5.42 runs per game, which is only second behind the Cincinnati Reds. Boston will be going up against Dunn, who has not pitched more than 5.0 IP through three starts. The 25-year-old has only recorded nine strikeouts and 10 walks in 9.2 IP. Neither left nor right-handed batters have hit well off of Dunn, but he’s allowed eight walks to left-handed hitters. This will likely be one of the more expensive DFS stacks, but could be worth the value.

Mets vs. Cubs, 7:40 p.m. ET

Javier Baez ($4600)
Willson Contreras ($4600)
Kris Bryant ($4500)
Anthony Rizzo ($4400)
David Bote ($3000)

After a low-scoring affair between these two teams on Tuesday, the Cubs opened up the floodgates Wednesday night, defeating the Mets 16-4. Chicago scored 16 runs on 13 hits and was 8-of-15 with RISP (runners in scoring position). They will be looking to carry that momentum over on Thursday night as they look for the series sweep with Trevor Williams on the mound.

DraftKings Sportsbook has the run total currently set at 9.5 runs. The Mets will start Joey Lucchesi, who has a record of 0-1 with an ERA of 5.40. Granted, Williams doesn’t have a great ERA either at 5.02, but he has pitched well at home this season. A player to watch for the Cubs is Anthony Rizzo, who has recorded a hit in six out of the last seven games. Over that time, he’s also scored 10 fantasy points or more, which is good considering Williams is allowing left-handed batters to hit .500/.600/.500 this season.

Angels vs. Astros, 8:10 p.m. ET

Mike Trout ($5800)
Shohei Ohtani ($5100)
Jared Walsh ($4700)
Jose Iglesias ($3300)
David Fletcher ($3100)

The Los Angeles Angels will be looking to bounce back from a series loss to the Texas Rangers on Thursday against the struggling Houston Astros. DraftKings Sportsbook has the run total currently set at nine runs.

As we know, the Angels are led by Trout and Ohtani. Both players are swinging the bat well to start the season, hitting over .300 with a combined 11 home runs. LAA will be facing Houston starting pitcher Cristian Javier, who is making his third start of the season. The 24-year-old starter has been a bright spot in the Astros’ rotation with a record of 1-0 and ERA of 2.08. In his only start against the Angels, Javier gave up three hits, three earned runs, two walks, a home run, but struck out five in 5.2 IP. The 24-year-old pitcher went 5.0 IP in his last start, but hasn’t faced an offense such as the Angels, which is averaging 5.31 runs a game (third in MLB).
