In a women’s flyweight title bout on the main card of UFC 261, Valentina Shevchenko will fight Jessica Andrade Saturday night in Jacksonville and available on ESPN+.
The 33-year-old Shevchenko comes to the octagon with a professional fighting record of 20-3, and is the champion of the women’s flyweight division. She is also ranked second in the women’s pound-for-pound rankings behind Amanda Nunes. “Bullet” Shevchenko has won seven-straight bouts, including her last fight at UFC 255 last year, defeating Jennifer Maia by unanimous decision.
The accomplished veteran fighter lands 3.06 strikes per minute with 50% striking accuracy. She absorbs 2.12 strikes per minute, while defending against at 63%. “Bullet” is also good as a grappler with 2.09 takedown average per 15 minute and 54% takedown accuracy.
Andrade enters the championship bout with a professional fighting record of 21-8 and ranked first in the women’s flyweight division. The 29-year-old from Brazil is also ranked fifth in the women’s pound-for-pound class. “Bate Estaca” Andrade last fought in October at UFC Fight Night 180, where she defeated Katlyn Chookagian by knockout in Round 1. She has eight wins by TKO/KO over her 10-year professional fighting career.
The Brazilian mixed martial artist lands more strikes than her opponent at 6.55 per minute with 51% striking accuracy. However Andrade also absorbs 5.28 strikes per minute, while only defending against them at 51%. The 29-year-old can also grapple inside the octagon with a takedown average of 3.21 and accuracy at 58%.
