The headliner of UFC 261 is centered around the rematch between Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal, but one of the appealing matchups on the main card is the light heavyweight bout between Anthony Smith and Jim Crute. Crute is the favorite to come away with the win on Saturday night, but here’s a closer look as we get closer to the event.
The veteran Smith has a significant experience advantage over Crute with a 34-16 fight record, and he will enter having snapped a two-fight losing skid his last time out by defeating Devin Clark via submission in November 2020. The 32-year-old American had a streak going where he won six of seven fights, but he finds himself as a winner of just two of his last five.
Crute will enter Saturday night’s event with a 12-1 fight record, having earned four victories in five UFC starts so far in his career. The 25-year-old Australian is coming off a knockout over Modestas Bukauskas in October 2020, and is set to go for his third consecutive victory. Both Crute and Smith have combined to have a significant number of victories come through stoppages, so this should be one of the most exciting fights on the card early in the night.
Here are the betting odds at DraftKings Sportsbook for Anthony Smith vs. Jim Crute at UFC 261 on April 24.
