Full list of 2021 Oscar winners as they come in

Hollywood’s biggest night is here! The 93rd Academy Awards are here, and we’ll be following along all night with the winners as they come through.

We’ll be keeping an eye on the odds as well, because that’s become a big part of following the Oscars in recent years. You can also wager on these yourself at DraftKings Sportsbook if you live in Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, or New Jersey.

Nomadland is the big favorite to win Best Picture as well as Best Director, but there are some upset possibilities out there with The Trial of the Chicago 7, Minari, and Mank as well.

We’ll be following along all night from the ceremony, taking place at LA’s Union Station instead of the usual home of the Dolby Theatre due to COVID-19 precautions.

Below are all the odds and for all categories from DraftKings Sportsbook, as well as all the winners as they’re announced.

Best Actor

Winner: Anthony Hopkins

I mean, I just... what??? If you’re not going to honor the deceased Boseman, you’re going with Anthony Hopkins instead of Riz Ahmed?? Seriously, SAG?? The producers of the show were clearly trying to set up Boseman’s family accepting the win to close the show, and he was the last person show in the In Memoriam montage. Just an absolute stunner, and Twitter is dragging the last two awards pretty badly.

Best Actress

Winner: Frances McDormand

A big disappointment for Carey Mulligan, who had a great shot here. It’s McDormand’s third win, but this one was a bit of a surprise.

Winner: Nomadland

The chalk comes through at the end. It’s certainly an achievement of cinema, and it’s a special film. A huge congratulations to Chloe Zhao, Frances McDormand, and the cast both scripted and non-scripted.

Winner: Fight For You

So while the song might not actually be in the movie, one of the biggest Oscar upsets in a long time! +2500 comes through for the performer H.E.R. as well as Judas and the Black Messiah.

Winner: Soul

Nine Inch Nails and Stephen Colbert’s house band leader both win an Oscar! Never a doubt here, and the music in this film is just wonderful.

Best Film Editing

Winner: Sound of Metal

This was basically a 50/50, and might be bad for The Trial of the Chicago 7 potentially getting enough momentum to knock off Nomadland to close the show. The way it was cut however made all the difference, and either film would have been a worthy winner.

Best Cinematography

NOMADLAND IS CUT AND BLEEDING! Both the favorite and the winner are incredibly well shot, but of all the awards that were questionable, we thought the incredibly well-lit filming of western American vistas were going to bring it home. Another upset!

Best Production Design

Winner: Mank

Black and white and David Fincher means you’re going to get an incredible looking film. Mank is Oscar bait about Hollywood, which tends to win more Oscars, and then in a few decades someone will make a movie about the making of Fight Club and the process of Fincher... it’s the circle of awards cinema.

Best Supporting Actress

Winner: Yuh-jung Youn

A South Korean star for decades, Youn wins for her turn as the irreverent grandmother of a family that moves to Arkansas to begin farming. She was terrific, and it’s a shame Maria Bakalova can’t get some kind of special award for being trapped in a hotel room with Rudy Giuliani at moderate peril for the comedy moment of the year.

Winner: My Octopus Teacher

Craig Foster spent a year building a relationship with an octopus in a South African kelp forest. You do that, while making it engaging and one of the most talked about documentaries of the year, you get the trophy. Netflix gets the W!

Winner: Colette

Our first upset! Colette is the first film produced by a video-game studio to receive an Oscar nomination, from Respawn Entertainment. It shows former French Resistance fighter Colette Marin-Catherine as she travels to Germany and visits the concentration camp where her brother was killed.

Winner: Soul

It’s so freaking good. Just go see it because it’s wonderful and the soundtrack straight up slaps. The Rockets would win the NBA Championship this year before Soul didn’t win this award. It’s going to be so cool to see Trent Reznor win an award for Best Original Score for this same film later tonight too.

Winner: Two Distant Strangers

Not gonna lie: I saw none of these films. Someone hook me up with a password to that Academy site where we can stream all the nominees! But congrats to the Utah Jazz’s Mike Conley on his first Oscar!

Winner: Chloe Zhao (Nomadland)

Whether it wins Best Picture might still be in question, but the shooting and production of what is a breakthrough achievement in cinema left little doubt who the winner would be here. It was one of the most beautifully shot films of the year, and the blending of real-life wanderers with scripted actors was so well-executed.

Getting the look of the characters was a massive part of the film, and finding the perfect outfits for a 1920’s blues group is part of what made this film look so realistic.

Winner: Daniel Kaluuya

An absolute achievement in performance, Kaluuya’s inhabitation of Black Panther Fred Hampton was eye-popping. “How blessed we are to have lived in a lifetime when he did,” said Kaluuya during his acceptance speech. A tremendous speech.

Winner: Another Round

The fact director Thomas Vinterberg is also nominated for Best Director indicates the strength of this film, as it’s rare to see a foreign production in both categories. The Danish film was a massive favorite.

A bit of an upset here, and this might be a sign of trouble for Nomadland? The Anthony Hopkins vehicle was a great film, but is it possible the Academy might not be ready to hand Chloe Zhao all the statuettes tonight?
