In the last game on ESPN Wednesday, the Los Angeles Clippers will play the Phoenix Suns at 10:00 p.m. ET. The last time these two teams played each other, the Clippers won 113-103 over the Suns at Staples Center earlier this month.
The Clippers are coming into this late-night matchup off of 120-103 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night after winning four-straight games. Los Angeles has already won the season series, which could come into play as they are only a game behind the Suns for second place in the West. The Clippers are still without the services of Kawhi Leonard but have found a way to go 8-2 in their last 10 games.
Meanwhile, Phoenix just wrapped up a tough five-game East road trip that ended with them defeating the New York Knicks 118-110 on Monday night. The Suns need every win they can get to stay in front of the Clippers and possibly clinch the first seed in the West. Phoenix is 3-2 in their last five games and 7-3 in their last 10 games. We’ll go over some ideal picks on DraftKings Sportsbook centered around the game here.
Clippers vs. Suns, 10:00 p.m. ET, ESPN
Pick ATS: Clippers +4
The line for Wednesday night’s game is currently set at four points, with the Suns listed as the favorite at home. Despite the Clippers winning both games over Phoenix this season, it is the home team who is the betting favorite.
The Suns are also coming into tonight’s game as the healthier team, which plays a role in where the spread is at. The only notable injuries for Phoenix are Dario Saric (ankle injury management) and Jae Crowder (ankle), who are both listed as questionable. All-Star point guard Chris Paul has been a key cog in the Suns’ success this season. He’s averaging 16.1 points, 8.7 assists, and 4.7 rebounds per game. In Phoenix’s last five games, Paul is averaging 21.2 points, 8.6 assists, and 5.4 rebounds per game. He’s also shooting 53.9% from the field and 51.9% from three-point range.
The Suns have a record of 1-4 against the spread in their last five games versus other teams from the West. Additionally, they are also 20-12 ATS at home this season. As for Los Angeles, they have multiple players on the injury report. Both Patrick Beverley and Serge Ibaka are listed as out, while Kawhi Leonard is doubtful (right foot) and Nic Batum is questionable (right shoulder).
Without Leonard, Paul George has been carrying the offensive workload for the Clippers. In the Clippers’ last 10 games, George is averaging 28.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game. He’s also shooting 49.8% from the field and 43% from distance. The Clips are 13-6-1 ATS in their last 20 games and 5-1 ATS in their last six games against teams from the Pacific division.
Additionally, they are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games against the Clippers and 16-14-1 ATS away from Staples Center. When the Clippers have been listed as the underdog this season, they have a record of 6-3 against the spread.
Player Prop: Chris Paul over 1.5 three-pointers made (+112)
This is one of the better prop plays on the board for the Wednesday slate. CP3 has been playing out of his mind recently and one of the reasons why the Suns have a shot at taking the No. 1 seed in the West. In the Suns’ last five contests, he’s scoring 21.2 points per game and shooting 51.9% from behind the arc. Paul has gone over 1.5 threes made in five-straight games. The Suns will be playing a Clippers’ team that is allowing opposing teams to shoot 40.6% from three in their last three contests.
