With the number of quarterbacks set to go high in this year’s class, the 2021 NFL Draft should garner quite a bit of interest. However, the first two picks are pretty much set in stone according to oddsmakers. Former Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence is expected to go No. 1 to the Jacksonville Jaguars and former BYU Cougars QB Zach Wilson likely headed to the New York Jets with the second overall pick.
Wilson is getting 60% of the handle from DraftKings Sportsbook bettors on who will go No. 2 overall, though he’s getting just 18% of bets on his side. Former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Justin Fields is getting 41% of the bets, though just 25% of the handle. With the difference in odds, it’s not surprising people are betting on an upset.
Below is a look at the betting splits provided by DraftKings Sportsbook.
Pick #2 betting splits
Zach Wilson (-5000) 58% handle 17% bets
Justin Fields (+1600) 27% handle 41% bets
Penei Sewell (+5000) 5% handle 9% bets
Trey Lance (+3300) 2% handle 6% bets
Mac Jones (+5000) 2% handle 7% bets
The majority of the money is going to be on the right side in this one, but don’t expect to make much money with a wager on Wilson at -5000 odds. That means a $100 bet on him to be selected with the second pick overall would net a $2 profit. It’s probably not worthy of a bet, but that’s where he will be slotted as the Jets continue to look for their franchise quarterback after Sam Darnold did not work out.
