The Atlanta Braves shut out the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night, 5-0, to give Chicago its fourth consecutive loss. The Cubs will send Kyle Hendricks to the bump tonight in an effort to get back on the winning track. But for that to happen, the Cubs will need Hendricks to be much, much better than the last time he faced the Braves 10 days ago.
Moneyline pick: Braves +163
Atlanta crushed Hendricks for four home runs in the first inning during that Sunday night game. He ended up allowing seven runs over four innings in a 13-4 Braves victory. The Cubs are listed today at -200. I imagine that’s because we should expect Hendricks to be much better this time around and the assumption that the Cubs will snap this losing skid soon. Braves starter Huascar Ynoa was knocked around by Chicago in that same weekend, but outside of that outing, Ynoa has allowed just three earned runs and three walks with 20 strikeouts in 18 innings. And after Ronald Acuna Jr. hit a ball almost into Alabama on Tuesday night, he might be ready to go on another streak where he becomes nearly impossible to get out.
Player Prop: Marcell Ozuna OVER 0.5 RBIs (+145)
Ozuna wasn’t one of the four Braves to go deep off of Hendricks in that incredible first inning, but he has often gotten the better of this matchups. Through 34 at-bats, Ozuna is hitting .382 with a 1.036 OPS versus Hendricks. That includes nine RBIs and a couple of homers. Ozuna is having a pretty poor April at the plate, but he seems to always see Hendricks well.
