Moneyline pick, best player prop for Marlins vs. Brewers on Wednesday

We go over some of the best betting options for Wednesday’s matchup between the Miami Marlins and Milwaukee Brewers.

The Miami Marlins and Milwaukee Brewers meet this afternoon in the rubber match of their three-game series. Milwaukee won on Tuesday night, 5-4, and currently sits atop the NL Central, two games clear of the Cardinals and the surprising Pirates. Miami took the series opener on Monday by the score of 8-0, thanks in large part to another fantastic outing from rookie starting pitcher Trevor Rogers. He hasn’t allowed a run in three of his five starts this year. The Marlins will be sending another high-quality arm to the mound today.

Marlins vs. Brewers, 1:40 p.m. ET

Moneyline pick: Marlins -113

There’s no juice on either side here (Brewers -103), so it’s best to put your faith in the better pitcher. The Brewers haven’t named their starter as of Wednesday morning while the Marlins will give the ball to Sandy Alcantara, one of the more underrated hurlers in baseball. His control can be spotty, but when he’s on, he can look dominant. He hasn’t given up a ton of hard contact and has compiled 32 strikeouts in 29.2 innings. Milwaukee ranks in the bottom third of baseball in batting average and OPS. With Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain out of action, and with Keston Hiura continuing to be a void in the middle of the lineup, the Brewers are a golden matchup for opposing pitchers right now.

Player Prop: Jesus Aguilar OVER 0.5 RBIs (+178)

After going through 17 games without a home run, Aguilar has found his power stroke over the past week; he has gone deep in four of his last five games. He has driven in eight runs during that span. His RBI chances today are dented slightly by the absence of star rookie leadoff hitter Jazz Chisholm Jr., who is nursing a hamstring strain, but you should expect Aguilar to come up with another big hit or two against his former team. His 19 RBIs lead the Marlins. And, FYI, he is listed at +450 to homer today.
