Best bets for team to draft Justin Fields in the 2021 NFL Draft

We break down which bets we like for the team to draft QB Justin Fields.

Will Justin Fields end up in San Francisco?

A wild offseason has seen Justin Fields go from an assumed top-2 pick to a prospect that could realistically fall outside the top 10. His plight has become the crux of countless hours of sports radio and talk-show debate, but those discussions should finally fall by the wayside once Fields finally comes off the board this week.

Where the Ohio State product lands will serve as a central focus of the 2021 NFL Draft coverage, however. Seemingly most draft analysts suspect Fields will go after Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, and Mac Jones. Some still believe Fields could become the third overall player selected.

Best bets

Fields’ stock has endured a rollercoaster-like trajectory throughout the draft process, putting more teams in play for the former Ohio State signal-caller. Even so, some of these odds don’t present a ton of value given the probable requirement of a trade (the New England Patriots at +300) or the apparent interest in another quarterback (the San Francisco 49ers at +400).

The better options come in later. The Atlanta Falcons shouldn’t have to move a muscle to pick Fields and, if the reporting on the top three selections holds, have the easiest path to him. Likewise, the Detroit Lions have a reasonable chance at Fields and have already gone on record saying the acquisition of Jared Goff won’t prevent them from taking a QB they like. The Philadelphia Eagles wouldn’t verbally commit to Jalen Hurts during the offseason, and perhaps that’s a sign they could grab Fields should he fall outside the top 10.
