The San Francisco 49ers are expected to draft a quarterback with their first pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. There is drama around which quarterback, but it would be a huge upset if the third overall pick was anybody other than Mac Jones, Trey Lance, or Justin Fields.
There’s plenty to track there, but the 49ers will look to further build around that young QB with their second pick. Whether it means adding some protection on the offensive line or giving the defense a boost, the 49ers could go in several directions with their second pick of the draft.
DraftKings Sportsbook is offering odds on which side of the ball the 49ers will draft with their second pick and then more specifically, what position will it be. Currently, defense is installed as the favorite at -121, while offense is not that far off at -104. Oddsmakers think the 49ers go defense, but are not super confident at this point.
It shows further in specific positional odds. Offensive line is the favorite, but then cornerback is right behind it followed by linebacker. In a recent community mock draft, Niners Nation readers selected Oklahoma interior offensive lineman Creed Humphrey. In a three-round mock draft last week, Mel Kiper had the 49ers drafting Georgia cornerback Tyson Campbell.
These odds will likely move over the next 24 hours, but for now, here’s where they stand for the 49ers pick after the one everybody is currently talking about.
