Jamel Herring is set to defend his WBO junior lightweight title on Saturday against former two-class world champion Carl Frampton. The fight will take place Saturday, April 3rd at the Caesars Palace Dubai and air on ESPN+. The undercard is set to air at 2 p.m. ET, with ring walks for Herring and Frampton expected at around 5:15 p.m. ET.
Herring is 22-2 with 10 wins coming by knockout. He last fought in September 2020, beating Jonathan Oquendo via disqualification. Herring could not continue after the eighth round due to a cut above the eye caused by an Oquendo headbutt. Herring claimed the WBO title in a May 2019 unanimous decision victory over Masayuki Ito. He has two title defenses and is finally fighting Frampton after multiple postponements.
Frampton is 28-2 with 16 wins coming by way of knockout. He last fought in August 2020, defeating Darren Traynor via seventh round TKO. Frampton has won two straight fights since losing the IBF featherweight title to Josh Warrington in 2018.
