After having an off day on Friday, the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies will square off at 4:05 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon. The Phillies defeated the Braves 3-2 in extra innings on Opening Day. Philadelphia mustered nine hits off of the Braves with both JT Realmuto and Jean Segura recording two hits a piece. The Phils also got a nice performance from their bullpen, which was a major improvement from what we saw from last season. The Braves only scored two runs thanks to a pinch-hit home run from veteran infielder Pablo Sandoval.
Neither team did a great job with runners in scoring position (RISP) as the Phils went 3-for-14 and the Braves went 1-for-8. On Saturday, the Braves will have on the mound veteran SP Charlie Morton, who will be opposed by Zack Wheeler for the Phillies. We’ll go over some ideal picks on DraftKings Sportsbook centered around the game here.
Braves vs. Phillies, 4:05 p.m. ET
Moneyline pick: Braves -112
The Braves will be looking to bounce back on Saturday after being held to only two runs, which was courtesy of Sandoval’s two-run home run. Atlanta’s big three of Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies, and Freddie Freeman were held to a combined 2-of-13 with two walks. That is less than ideal, but something that should not be a concern going forward.
As for the Phillies, everybody that started the game got a hit, except for rookie Alec Bohm, who went 0-for-3 but had an RBI and a walk. Aforementioned, Philadelphia will try to do better with RISP against Morton on Saturday. Over his career, Morton has an ERA of 6.17 against the Phillies. But last season in one appearance, he had an ERA of 5.40 with three earned runs and eight strikeouts in five innings pitched. Just like Opening Day, it should be another close game, with the Braves coming out with a late-game win.
Player Prop: TBD player props have yet to be posted for either team.
