The Houston Texans come into the 2021 draft with problems stacked on top of problems. One of the many is that they went 4-12 last season and have no draft capital to speak of this year. With their first pick not coming until the beginning of the first round, they won’t be getting an instant difference-maker.
Their needs are many, as they’ve now lost their top two wide receivers over the last two seasons in DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller, but they also need an edge rush with J.J. Watt moving on. Of course, with such a late pick and so many holes to fill, the team could go in a number of directions as they try to plug the leaking dam with toilet paper.
Houston Texans 2021 Draft selections

No. 89: Nico Collins, WR
No. 147: Brevin Jordan, TE
No. 170: Garret Wallow, LB
Fantasy football impact
Davis Mills, QB
If Mills starts for the Texans at some point this season, something has gone very, very wrong. Of course, that would be par for the course. Mills has potential, but he’s a ways off.
Nico Collins, WR
Collins joins a receiver corps that’s been trying to get on track since trading DeAndre Hopkins. The departure of Will Fuller leaves Brandin Cooks and Randall Cobb atop the depth chart. The biggest issue is the quarterback position. Deshaun Watson’s future in Houston is in doubt and that downgrades Collins’ value. If Watson is the Texans QB in 2021, there’s some upside. Collins is more of a 2022 value, but he could be a sneaky sleeper this season.
Brevin Jordan, TE
Jordan has a lot of upside, but will need to become a better blocker to get on the field as a 5th rounder. He has strong offensive skills and should be able to eventually prove himself as a playmaker at the position. He’s a worthy add in dynasty and a must add in 2TE leagues.
