As a large portion of America settles in front of their TV Monday night to flip on the NCAA Men’s Basketball title game between the Gonzaga Bulldogs and Baylor Bears, there will be four people settling in courtside to bring us the action.
The game is being broadcast on CBS by their top team of Jim Nantz on play-by-play, Grant Hill and Bill Raftery on color commentary, and Tracy Wolfson as the courtside reporter. It’s the sixth straight national title game this crew has called together.
The crew had the eyes of the entire nation during the semifinal rounds of March Madness, as they called an all-time great game between Gonzaga and UCLA. Coming down to the wire in overtime, the Bulldogs’ Jalen Suggs hit a game-winning buzzer-beater just in front of the halfcourt line.
Nantz’ call of that will forever be enshrined in the memories of basketball fans and Raftery got to throw in his famous “Onions” and “With a kiss call” as it banked off the backboard into the net. Who knows what will be in store tonight as well, as Wolfson has a knack for drawing wild games. She was the CBS sideline reporter for the kick six back in 2013.
Tipoff for the big game is scheduled for 9:20 p.m. and coverage begins at 8:30 with the pregame show.
